Although ordering is relatively simple, this guide will streamline the process for you and let you know what to expect when you place an order. You might want to print these pages so that you can have access to them when you are on the order form.
Selecting Products
Start by browsing through the shops. You can find items by either selecting the general category first (such as "books" or "audio cassettes" or "videos" or "software" or "gifts") or by going to your language of choice first (such as "English Shop", "Spanish Shop", "Russian Shop", "Italian Shop", "Bilingual Shop", "German Shop", or "French Shop"). You will then see a table with information about the items including title, author, publisher, type, and price. The table is listed alphabetically, but you can also sort by author, publisher, type or price by clicking any of these words. The table will display 20 items at a time, so if you want to see the next group you would select "next 20" at the bottom of the page. If you want to see additional information about any of the items, you can click on the underlined title, which is hyperlinked, and it will bring up more information about the item. If you would like to purchase the item, you can select "add to order" or you can browse further by selecting "return to list". If you select an item, you will get a message back "Added to shopping list." You can then return to the list and you can browse further on that list or you can browse through any of the shops as much as you like before you place your order. Our software will remember all of the items that you have chosen. You may review your order at any time by selecting "view shopping cart" and it will show you what you have selected so far. When you are ready to check out, you will choose "view shopping cart" and then you can choose "go to checkout". If there are items in your shopping cart that you decide not to buy, you will be given the opportunity during check-out to put them back by putting in zero into the quantity box.
Security
Security is very important to us. Once you select the "go to checkout" link, you will be asked information about your address and how you want to pay. If you select credit card payment, which we recommend because it is faster, you will automatically be switched to the secure commerce server. You can verify this by looking at the lower left hand corner of your screen and should see an unbroken key or a closed padlock which indicates that the information which you input will be sent in an encrypted form for safety.
Checkout
Once you select the "go to checkout" link, you will be brought into the ordering area entitled "Completing Your Order is Easy" and you will go through six easy steps billing address input, gift item information, shipping address input, shipping method selection, checking your order and payment options. You can always change an earlier entry by clicking on the "back" button on your browser. If you leave without completing your order, your shopping cart will automatically be emptied.
If you have visited us before and have put in a password, you will be asked to input your email address and your password. If you cannot remember your password, you can enter anything in the password area and an email message will be sent to you automatically listing your password.
Billing Information
This is Step 1. You will be asked to tell us about yourself including your contact information for billing purposes. If you forget to enter something, you will get a message back telling you what was forgotten. At the bottom of the screen, you will be able to select "Proceed to Step 2 if this is a gift" or "Proceed to Step 3 if it is not a gift".
Ordering a Gift
This is Step 2. If your order is a gift, you can type in a greeting and a message that will be printed on a gift card and shipped with your purchase. You can even request a "Do not open until..." label if you wish. You can also choose a particular wrapping paper under the Gift Shop area or let us select one for you. The gift-wrap will add an extra $2.00 per item to your order. After you have made your selection and have entered a gift message, you can choose "Proceed to Step 3" at the bottom of the page. If your order is not a gift or you do not wish to have it wrapped or a message included, you can choose "Proceed to Step 3" at the top of the page.
Entering Shipping Information
This is Step 3. If your order will be sent to a different address than your billing address, please fill out the other address at this point. If your order will be sent to the same address as your billing address, you may choose "Skip to Step 4 (Shipping Same as Billing Address)" at the top of the page.
Selecting a Shipping Option
This is Step 4. You will find a table as shown below with lots of choices depending on where you want your items delivered and how fast. You select the shipping method by looking at the list of shipment options clicking on the button next to your selection. Standard shipping in the Continental U.S. is USPS Priority Mail. International orders can be shipped via Airmail or Express. The shipping prices indicated are determined by the shipping entity and not Bookswithoutborders.com. Shipping times indicated are for delivery ONLY and do not include Bookswithoutborders.com's handling times. We will do our best to ship out orders by the end of the next business day (weekends and holidays are not included), unless an item is not in stock in which case we will let you know the expected shipment date.

After choosing your shipment method, you will click on "Proceed to Step 5."
Check Your Order
This is Step 5. You will see a list of the items that you have in your shopping cart. At this point you can change any quantities that are listed. The default is "1" for every item in your shopping cart. If you want more than one of an item you can change the number in the box that shows "1" and if you decide that you really do not want something that you had selected you can put in a "0" next to the title.
You will see the price of your order including any tax and shipping. We must charge sales tax if you are in Texas as our offices are located there. The program will automatically calculate the Texas tax based on your address. If you are tax exempt, please let us know this in the special instructions field and provide us with your tax identification number. If you need to tell us anything additional about your order such as deadline that you are trying to meet or that you need your order sent to two different addresses, please use the special instructions field.
If you need to change something else in your order, please use your "Back" button on your browser and make the change and then proceed back through using the step buttons or the "Forward" button on your browser. If you are happy with your order, click on "Proceed to Step 6".
Selecting a Payment Method
This is Step 6. At this point you have a choice to enter a secure server or continue on your standard server. You will need to choose a payment method. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and checks drawn on a U.S. bank or money orders in US dollars.
We recommend using a credit card, as we will be able to ship your order out more quickly using this method. We only charge you when your order is ready to be shipped. If you are not comfortable entering your credit card on-line, you may fax to us at 425-828-7790 or email us at sale@bookswithoutborders.com.
If you will be sending us a check or money order, please make it payable to Bookswithoutborders.com. We have to receive the check or money order before we process your order.
Order Confirmation
After you have entered your payment information, you will get a message back thanking you for your order. You will also receive an automatic e-mail confirmation, which lists the order details and tells you your order number and customer number. If you paid via credit card on-line, you will not see the credit card number, as this would be an unsecured transaction, unless you yourself had a secure server.
